St. Pat's students re-elect Bailey in tight mock vote

Sarnia-Lambton's Progressive Conservative candidate squeaked out a victory in a recent mock vote at St. Patrick's High School.

MPP Bob Bailey received 233 votes, roughly 32 per cent of the 737 votes cast on Tuesday. NDP candidate Dylan Stelpstra finished second with 215 votes.

The results mirrored the official results from Thursday's provincial election which saw Bailey elected to a fifth term -- he received roughly 53 per cent of vote. Stelpstra finished second in the riding with about 24 per cent of the vote.

There were 88 St. Pat's students who voted for Liberal candidate Mark Russell, the Green's Mason Bourdeau received 76 votes, Keith Benn with the New Blues finished fifth with 70 votes, Ontario Party candidate Ian Orchard received 24 votes, and 20 students voted for Carla Olson with the Populist Party. The school said 11 ballots were rejected.

St. Patrick's has been taking part in the Student-Vote Program since 2011.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
