Weir granted exemption to play in RBC Canadian Open

Bright's Grove's Mike Weir will be competing in the RBC Canadian Open, taking place June 9-12 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in Toronto.

Golf Canada and RBC confirmed Friday that the eight-time PGA Tour winner and Canadian Golf Hall of Famer has accepted an exemption for the event.

Weir, who won the 2003 Masters tournament and recently tied for fourth at the 2022 Senior PGA Championship, will be making his 29th start in the RBC Canadian Open.

His 29 appearances will be the third-most in tournament history behind fellow Canadian Golf Hall of Famers George Cumming (32) and Gordon Brydson (30).

A full Canadian contingent will also celebrate the return of the RBC Canadian Open led by world number 34 Corey Conners, past PGA Tour winners Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor, as well as fellow PGA Tour members Taylor Pendrith, Adam Svensson, Michael Gligic and Roger Sloan.

Tickets for the 2022 RBC Canadian Open are available here.
