Kidney Foundation honours Bluewater Health's dialysis team

The Bluewater Health Dialysis Team has received a prestigious award from the Kidney Foundation.

The Sarnia-Lambton Chapter of the foundation dedicates the Susan Robbins Memorial Award to those who advocate for patients and caregivers and who support fundraising and volunteer initiatives.

Board Member Greg Robbins, husband to the late Susan Robbins, said the dialysis team provided wonderful care and support to patients throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic.

“Patients continued to require dialysis despite the pandemic, and were also more vulnerable to contracting serious COVID-19 illness. Local dialysis patients have been so fortunate and appreciative of the exemplary care provided during a very challenging last two years.”

The dialysis team, which provides hemodialysis treatment for chronic renal failure, also received the award in 2018.

Bluewater Health VP of Clinical Services Laurie Zimmer said the dialysis team is honoured to once again be presented with the award.

“All of the staff working on our Dialysis Unit are highly skilled and dedicated to providing exemplary patient care, but are also committed to working with our community partners to improving life for patients.”
