No injuries reported after collision with school bus

A 75-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with careless driving after a van crashed into the back of a school bus.

Sarnia police said the bus was stopped on Lakeshore Road, between Blackwell Side Road and Pineridge Trail, on Friday, June 3. The red lights were flashing and the stop arm was extended as students were about to be dropped off after school.

Officers said an eastbound vehicle did not stop in time and rear-ended the bus.

Luckily, no injuries were reported. However, the 75-year-old driver was taken to hospital for observation.

Sarnia police are using this incident to remind drivers to be attentive while behind the wheel. The set fine for careless driving is $490 and a penalty of six demerit points upon conviction.
