Alleged impaired driver collides with cruiser

City police arrested an alleged impaired driver, after their vehicle collided with a police cruiser Monday night.

Sarnia police were called about a possible impaired driver near Wal-Mart at around 9 p.m.

Police located and were able to safely stop the vehicle at the intersection of London Road and Pontiac Drive, however it's alleged that before the officer could speak with the female driver, she maneuvered around a cruiser in front of her and attempted to flee.

Police said the vehicle was travelling west on London Road when it drifted across the lanes and struck another cruiser that was stopped with its lights activated. No injuries were reported.

The driver provided breath samples police said were over three times the legal limit.

The 24-year-old driver is charged with impaired operation with a blood concentration of 80 plus and flight from police.

She was released from custody and has a July court date.
