Sarnia man found with kitchen knives at park

A 38-year-old Sarnia man is facing weapons related charges after allegedly threatening to kill someone with kitchen knives near a weekend event Friday night.

Police were called to Centennial Park at around 11:20 p.m.

Officers said a man, who was reportedly screaming obscenities, pulled out two kitchen knives and swung them at trees while people were in the immediate area.

He then allegedly threatened to kill a person with the knives.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

He was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The accused has since been released from police custody.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
