UPDATE: Attendance up at Sarnia Ribfest

The Sarnia Kinsmen Club has already started planning for next year's RibFest.

The first in-person RibFest held in Sarnia since 2019 took place this past weekend at Centennial Park.

The exact total amount raised is unknown at this time but an estimated 25,600 people attended the 23rd annual RibFest, which was held June 17-19. That's about 10,000 above average.

Event Chair Jack Struck said while attendance was up, donations at the gate were lower.

"We've never had them that low in 23 years," he said. "I don't know what the reason is … We were quite surprised."

However, Struck said the club is pleased overall and grateful to the volunteers who helped out.

Jack the Ribber won two awards, people's choice and first overall. Silver Bullet BBQ won best ribs and ROUTE 55 won the award for best chicken.
