Charges laid in Wyoming standoff

Charges have been laid in connection to a standoff this past weekend in Wyoming.

Lambton OPP were called to a residence on Broadway Street at 8 p.m. Saturday.

A 35-year-old Wyoming resident allegedly barricaded themselves inside the residence and refused to cooperate with police.

As a precaution, the area was evacuated and the roadway was closed to traffic.

Crisis negotiators, and members of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Tactics and Rescue Unit were called in to assist. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody several hours later, just after 12:30 a.m.

OPP said the accused was charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, uttering threats to cause damage to property, and weapons dangerous.

The person's identity is being withheld to protect the identity of a victim. The accused was held in custody following a bail hearing held on June 26.
