K9 dog 'Blitz' sniffs out assault suspect

An 11-year-old general service dog has helped Lambton OPP yet again, track down a suspect accused of assault.

Police were called to St. Clair Street in Watford on Monday at around 11 p.m. The suspect allegedly took off on foot before police arrived so the OPP Canine Unit was brought in to assist.

Blitz covered over two kilometers of area in under 30 minutes and was able to find the suspect.

A 36-year-old Watford resident was arrested and charged with three counts of assault.

OPP said the name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim(s) involved.
