First local COVID-19 death since May reported

The local COVID-19 death toll has risen to 147.

The latest death reported by Lambton Public Health is the first linked to the virus since May 11. The individual who passed away was in their 60s and died in a London hospital.

The health unit reported 49 new lab-confirmed infections in the last week, for a total of 12,106 since the start of the pandemic.

There is one active outbreak. Fewer than five residents or staff members at North Lambton Lodge in Forest have tested positive for the virus.

The average daily number of confirmed cases in Sarnia-Lambton has increased slightly to seven over the last week.

As of Tuesday, Bluewater Health was caring for fewer than five patients confirmed to have the virus.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
