System error slows traffic at Blue Water Bridge

Traffic was moving normally again Wednesday morning at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward.

The Federal Bridge Corporation (FBCL) reported a system error that resulted in lengthy wait times at the international crossing, and traffic backups on the westbound Highway 402.

Senior Communications Specialist Remi Francoeur said the system error that started over the weekend, forced the closure of two of the US-bound toll lanes.

Francoeur said operations at the bridge have since returned to normal.

"Our staff worked non-stop and the issue was resolved late Tuesday night," said Francoeur.

He thanked customers for their patience while the system problems were dealt with.

The FBCL owns, manages and operates international crossings in Point Edward, Cornwall, Sault Ste. Marie and Lansdowne.
