Extensive damage in Bentpath Line house fire

Damage is estimated at $300,000 in a house fire Friday night in St. Clair Township.

Firefighters from four stations responded to a home in the 2600 block of Bentpath Line at around 8:30 p.m.

St Clair Township Fire Chief Richard Boyes said quick action by the first crews on scene stopped the spread of the fire, however damage is extensive.

Lambton OPP and EMS also responded to the call. No injuries were reported.

Boyes said working smoke alarms in the home notified the residents of the fire, and they were able to exit safely.

It's been determined the cause of the blaze was a candle knocked over by a pet.

Bentpath Line was closed to traffic between Brigden Road and Mandaumin Road for several hours while crews battled the blaze.
