Sarnia's Weekend Walkabout Committee is already planning for next month's festivities following a successful second event.
Around 2,000 people attended Saturday's inaugural ArtCrawl on Christina Street, the first event of its kind since the most recent Artwalk in 2018.
Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce CEO Carrie McEachran said the committee drew on years expertise and knowledge from Artwalk's Shawn McKnight, the co-founder of the event that was launched in the early 2000s.
"He was wonderful in sharing his expertise in sharing what worked and what didn't work in the past, so we were really happy to have him on board."
The committee also includes the International Symphony Orchestra and a number of downtown business leaders.
McEachran said ArtCrawl, presented by Origin Materials, featured 61 vendors.
"I know vendors were thrilled to be able to be somewhere and be able to showcase their arts and crafts, and I know the people visiting and supporting these artists were really grateful to see this as well."
McEachran said Sunday's Street Cruiser event also had a great turnout.
She said they're planning to bring back ArtCrawl next year.
"We have received nothing but great feedback, even through all of that horrible heat on Saturday we had such a great turnout and the Sarnia-Lambton community really came out to support the local artists and the downtown businesses, so we're thrilled."
The event also raised over $10,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation. UA 663 Plumbers Pipefitters & Welders donated $5,000 and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Sarnia also chipped in $5,000.
Next month's third and final Weekend Walkabout, from September 2 to 4, will feature the Taste of Sarnia Food Festival. The festivities see Christina Street closed between George Street and Davis Street from Friday evening until 6 p.m. Sunday.
