Construction worker becomes Sarnia's latest millionaire

What's better than winning $1 million dollars? How about winning $1,000,002.

Gregory Potter of Sarnia won the extra $2 on his Encore selection on a guaranteed $1 million prize in the June 29 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

Potter, who works in construction, said he has been playing the lottery since he was 18-years-old.

"This is my first big win," he said at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto when he picked up his winnings. "I checked my ticket using the OLG App and I thought it was fake at first because it was the same day as the cellular service outage, so I was convinced it wasn't real."

The 51-year-old said after he scanned the ticket a second time he felt like it had to be real, but still couldn’t fully accept it.

"It's been a surreal experience. I can finally accept the fact that it's real. I plan to use this money to pay some bills and invest. I will also put some aside for a nice family vacation."

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Ube Drive in Sarnia.
