Damage to roadway leads to impaired driving arrest

A 20-year-old man is facing charges after a vehicle travelling on three tires caused damage to an 80 kilometre stretch of county road.

Lambton OPP were called to Lambton Line at around 8:40 a.m. Sunday.

Officers spotted the damage and were able to track it to a broken-down car.

Police said the driver showed signs of impairment, and a roadside screening device was administered. The accused was arrested and transported to an OPP detachment where police said two samples over the legal limit were provided.

The suspect is charged with operation while impaired, failure to report damage to property on a highway, and operating an unsafe vehicle.

He was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
