Police investigating after unconscious man found injured

A 48-year-old man was transported to a London hospital after he was found severely injured in a grass field.

Sarnia police responded to a vacant lot next to the Inn of the Good Shephard's homeless shelter on Confederation Street following an emergency call just before 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Police reported that a 48-year-old man was found unconscious and severely injured the field. The injuries appear consistent with the man having been assaulted. The man was taken to a London hospital, where he was admitted for surgery.

The investigation is ongoing and police are attempting to identify any witnesses or suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact SPS at 519-344-8861 ext. 5300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
