Aamjiwnaang First Nation nominations announced

There are currently 27 names on the ballot for the October election at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

Current chief Chris Plain and Phillip Maness were both nominated during Friday's nomination meeting.

A total of 25 people were nominated for councillor. There are nine councillor positions to be filled.

Nominees have until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31 to accept or decline the nomination.

The election is set for Friday, October 7.

At Walpole Island First Nation, there are seven names on the ballot for chief, and 27 for the position of councillor. Voters head to the polls on Saturday, September 17.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
