Incumbent Chris Plain to remain chief

Christopher Plain has been acclaimed as Chief of Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

There were two individuals nominated for the position on Friday, August 26, however Phillip Maness withdrew his name by the August 31st deadline.

Five people withdrew their names after being nominated for one of the nine councillor positions, leaving 20 names on the ballot.

Election day is October 7. The poll will open at 9 a.m. at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre on Virgil Avenue.

Anyone on the Aamjiwnaang First Nation Band Registry, 18-years-old and up is eligible to vote.
