Police have charged a 23-year-old Sarnia man with manslaughter in connection with an assault that happened late last month.
Sarnia police responded to a report of a fight at a gathering in the 100 block of Maness Court near Tashmoo Avenue on Sunday, August 28. It's alleged two individuals, who police said were known to each other, got into an argument which escalated into a physical altercation.
Police said one individual sustained significant injuries and was unconscious when officers arrived. Lambton EMS transported the individual to hospital for treatment. Dalton Eugene Bressette, 26, of Sarnia was transferred to London Health Sciences Centre in critical condition.
The other individual allegedly involved in the altercation was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Police said on Sunday, September 4, Bressette died as a result of his injuries.
Brandon Gilbert was rearrested by police and charged with one count of manslaughter. He was being held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
