High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

An initiative that started earlier this year will soon see additional trees spruce up Coronation Park in Sarnia.
Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton and IODE Errol Egremont are hosting a tree planting event on Saturday in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
<a href="https://blackburnnews.com/sarnia/sarnia-news/2022/06/03/grant-iode-funds-tree-planting-initiative/">IODE Errol Egremont received a $5,000 grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage</a> earlier this year in order to plant 35 native trees.
The tree planting event will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Attendees are asked to bring gloves, shovels, and durable footwear.
The rain date for the event is October 2.
