Sarnia Fire and Rescue says an early morning house fire in the 200 block of London Road, was intentionally set.
Emergency crews responded to the home, near Mitton Street, at around 2 a.m. Monday.
Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus said based on evidence, city police are now investigating. Sarnia police said officers from the Criminal Investigation Branch will investigate the matter.
"The ignition point was on the exterior of the house and went up the side of the house and got into the attic," said Bus. "There's extensive damage in the attic and a hole in the roof before we got it out. Everybody made it out safely, there were no injuries."
Damage is estimated at between $200,000 and $250,000.
The roadway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-344-8861.
