Election day at Aamjiwnaang First Nation

Voters will head to the polls at Aamjiwnaang First Nation on Friday.

Chris Plain has been acclaimed as chief after Phillip Maness withdrew his name.

There are 20 people running for one of nine positions on band council.

Eligible voters can cast their ballot from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Mawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre on Virgil Avenue.

The two-year term of office will take effect on October 19th.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
