Fire crews battle blaze on Penrose Street

No injuries were reported in an overnight structure fire on Penrose Street in Sarnia.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services Chief Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus said crews responded to the 100 block between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

"Upon arrival firefighters discovered heavy fire on the exterior of two separate structures adjacent to each other," said Bus. "The occupants of both buildings were out, partially due to people alerting them of the exterior fire."

Bus said firefighters quickly brought the fire under control to minimize interior damage as much as possible.

Two vehicles in the driveway between the structures were also involved.

Further information, including a cause and damage estimate, was not immediately known. The investigation continues.
