Pipeline drill planned at NOVA

A full-scale field exercise for NOVA Chemical's pipeline operations is planned Thursday morning.

Company spokesperson Julia Iacovella said the drill will take place near the intersection of Lasalle Line and St. Clair Parkway between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

She said responders and observers, from various external local emergency response agencies, will be involved in the simulation that will examine the effectiveness of NOVA's Pipeline Emergency Response Plan.

Iacovella said residents in the area may notice emergency vehicles.

"Simulation exercises are an excellent opportunity to test and improve emergency response plans and procedures," said Iacovella in a statement. "Engaging multiple agencies in the response maximizes the training experience and builds solid working relationships in the event of a true emergency."

Iacovella added that the field exercise will not impact pipeline operations.
