Group plans for last tree planting of 2022

The last community tree planning event of the year, hosted by Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton, will take place on Saturday.

Additional trees will be planted at Wiltshire Park after a previous planting initiative took place there earlier this year. The reforestation project is being held in partnership with the City of Sarnia.

"With this project we are working to change urban grass areas into biodiverse habitats for many species through the planting of multiple types of vegetation," read a media release. "This project will involve the planting of trees and various low shrubs and mulching to change urban turf into mini-forests."

Community members are encouraged to participate in the sustainable initiative. Attendees will need to bring work gloves, shovels, and strong footwear.

Planting will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The specified rain date is on Sunday, October 16.
