COVID-19 death toll climbs to 155

There have been two more COVID-19 related deaths over the last week in Sarnia-Lambton.

In its weekly update Wednesday, Lambton Public Health reported the death toll had climbed to 155. The health unit said a man in his 80s died in hospital and a  woman in her 90s, linked to a long term care facility, also died.

The health unit reported 149 new lab confirmed cases of the virus, for a daily average of 21 cases over the past seven days.

There are seven active outbreaks, five of which are at local long-term care and retirement homes.

At Bluewater Health, there are 19 COVID-positive patients. The Sarnia Hospital recently reported an outbreak of the virus in the Inpatient Medicine Unit after five patients tested positive.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
