Dream home ticket sales strong, early bird winner announced

Tickets are over 20 per cent sold for this year's Bluewater Health Foundation Dream Home Lottery.

Residents have already scooped up more than 50,000 of the 200,000 tickets that are up for grabs.

Foundation Database and Lottery Specialist Tabitha Brinn said, as always, proceeds benefit a great cause.

"The money goes between Bluewater Health at both sites in Sarnia and Petrolia," said Brinn. "The money is split with the CEE Foundation, it is a partnership between our two foundations. It goes toward addressing the highest priority needs at Bluewater Health."

Brinn said tickets are being sold at a more affordable price point this year, starting at two for $50.

"This is a tough time for a lot of people," she said. "Historically, our tickets were $100 apiece so we've got a lower buy-in for people. We're seeing a ton of new people joining our lottery that maybe before weren't financially able to do that. It's such a great prize, winning a house and also supporting your local hospital."

Meanwhile, David Mair of Camlachie won Thursday's early bird draw for a seven night all-inclusive luxury vacation for two at the Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas, valued at $13,936.

Brinn said there are still plenty of chances to win prizes, with 2,800 available this year.

This year's home, located at 1955 Orchard Avenue in Bright’s Grove, is valued at $1,159,043.

The final deadline to purchase tickets is February 1, 2023.

The 2021 campaign sold around 92,000 tickets and raised about $400,000.

To date, the lottery has raised more than $8.5 million for the purchase of innovative medical equipment for patients and families in Lambton County and beyond.

Tickets can be purchased at www.bwhfdreamhome.com, by calling 519-464-4400, or by visiting the dream home on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
