UPDATE: Petrolia Line building damaged in fire

Damage is estimated at $75,000 in a fire Wednesday night in Petrolia.

The Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department responded to a structure fire at around 7:45 p.m. on Petrolia Line near Oil Street.

Fire Chief Jay Arns said the fire started outside the building.

"So it extended underneath the building and got into the floor, the crawl space underneath," said Arns. "It appears to be accidental in nature but the investigation is still ongoing."

Arns said no injuries were reported in the blaze, and fire crews were able to work quickly to minimize damage.

"It was a historic building," he said. "A single detached converted house into a law office."

It's been a busy week for Petrolia firefighters. On Sunday, firefighters battled a stubborn house fire on Lasalle Line.
