UPDATE: Suspicious package discovered at Confederation Street business

Sarnia police are investigating after a suspicious package was found Thursday morning.

Police were notified at around 6:40 a.m. Thursday by an employee at a business on Confederation Street who found a package upon arriving at work, and contacted police immediately.

Confederation Street was closed between Murphy Road and Trudeau Drive.

Members of the OPP Bomb Squad were called to assist in the investigation and later deemed the item safe. Police said barricades were removed around 12:40 p.m.

Further investigation into what the device was is still ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
