Enbridge battery storage projects charging ahead in St. Clair Twp.

Enbridge is planning to build three major battery storage projects in St. Clair Township.

The Calgary-based pipeline company will outline plans for the projects during a virtual public meeting Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The presentation will remain live until December 1, and the company will accept comments and questions until December 17.

Enbridge said the projects can provide electricity to the grid in southwestern Ontario to help ensure a reliable supply of energy. It comes as the Independent Electricity System Operators (IESO) is seeking new energy capacity in the region during periods of high demand.

Enbridge is planning to build the Dow Moore project on Ladysmith Road outside Corunna, the Petrolia project on Petrolia Line, also just outside Corunna, and the Tecumseh Farm project on Tecumseh Road near Courtright Line.

The sites are scheduled to come online in May of 2025.
