Oil Museum gets into holiday spirit with open house

Santa Claus will be at the Oil Museum of Canada on Friday for the historic site's annual Holiday Open House.

The museum will host crafts and activities for families from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. Snacks and warm apple cider will also be available.

"We're really excited! We're going to have Santa here, he'll be dressed in his Victorian outfit and he'll be telling stories and taking pictures with all of our youngsters," said Educational Program Coordinator Christina Sydorko.

There's no admission fee but non-perishable items will be collected to donate to local food banks.

Sydorko said in past years, they've seen about 150 people attend the open house.

"We've run this about four or five years. There was a pause during COVID but we are very excited to bring it back!"

During the event held pre-pandemic, Sydorko said around 200 pounds of food was collected.
