Community organizations are hosting a presentation to ensure older residents are aware of circulating scams and don't become a victim.
Lambton OPP is partnering with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and Sarnia-Lambton Elder Abuse Awareness Network to host a fraud prevention presentation on December 1.
The information session will take place at New Life Assembly Church in Petrolia from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Cst. Jamie Bydeley said fraud has been on the rise so it's important to make sure residents know what the "red flags" are when scammers call.
"We're seeing a lot more frauds. Especially over the last couple of years with COVID, maybe some desperation there with funds, maybe people losing their job thinking 'easy money' but we are seeing it trend high lately," he said.
The presentation is specifically geared toward senior residents.

Instances of fraud can be reported online through the Fraud Reporting System or by calling 1-888-495-8501.
