Great Lakes Secondary School evacuated

Reports of smoke in the hallway at Great Lakes Secondary School led to the school being evacuated Wednesday afternoon.

In a notice to parents and guardians, Principal Derek Stenton said smoke was observed in the hallway at approximately 1 p.m.

"As a precaution, all students and staff were safely evacuated," said Stenton. "Sarnia Fire Rescue Services cleared the building for re-entry at approximately 1:30 p.m."

Chief Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus said they discovered a smoke bomb had been set off.

"We cleared the smoke out and made sure there were no other issues and then we let the students back in the school," said Bus.

No injuries were reported.
