Corunna home damaged in fire

No injuries are reported in a fire Thursday evening in Corunna.

St. Clair Township Deputy Fire Chief Kirk Brydges said Corunna and Courtright stations responded to a structure fire on Beckwith Street at around 6 p.m.

"When they arrived it was determined it was a kitchen fire, it originated around the stove area," said Brydges. "Crews were able to make entry and extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported, the homeowners were not home at the time."

Brydges said while it's believed the fire started in the kitchen, the exact cause has not been determined yet.

"Cause is undetermined at this time, we have a little bit more investigation to do," he said. "Most of the fire damage was in the kitchen area, there is some smoke and water damage throughout the house."

The estimated cost of damage to the four-level split home is unknown at this time.
