Festive RIDE program in Sarnia leads to arrest

A St. Thomas man has been arrested during Sarnia police's Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

Police said a number of vehicles were stopped on Wednesday, where three out of four drivers tested below the legal limit.

A 58-year-old driver was charged with one count of impaired by alcohol and one count of having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

With the upcoming holiday season and associated gatherings, Sarnia police are reminding drivers to not get behind the wheel while impaired.

OPP launched their Festive RIDE campaign last month and said the number of impaired driving incidents has increased compared to previous years.
