Sarnia Sting goaltender Ben Gaudreau is one of five Ontario Hockey League players named to Canada's National Junior Team selection camp.
It takes place from December 9 to 12 at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Gaudreau was a member of Canada's gold medal-winning National Under-18 Team at the 2021 U18 Worlds in Frisco and Plano, Texas.
The 19-year-old Corbeil, Ontario native was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the third round of the 2021 National Hockey League draft. In 22 games played this season, he has a 9-8-3 record with a 3.62 GAA and .868 save percentage.
Sting Head Coach Alan Letang was previously announced as an assistant coach with Team Canada.
Other OHL players chosen to take part in selection camp include Ethan Del Mastro (Mississauga Steelheads), Jack Matier (Ottawa 67's), Owen Beck (Mississauga Steelheads) Brennan Othmann (Peterborough Petes).
Canada will name its final roster on December 12, followed by a five-day training camp at the Garcelon Civic Centre in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, from December 14 to 18.
The 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship begins on Boxing Day with four games, including Canada taking on Czechia at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax at 7:30 p.m. Atlantic time.
