Blue Flags to fly again at area beaches

Blue Flags will go up again this summer at Sarnia's Canatara Park Beach.

The beach is listed as one of the country's top 22 beaches and has again been awarded Blue Flag status.

Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber said Grand Bend Beach also made the list again this year.

"It's been 14 consecutive years that we've had the Blue Flag status," said Weber. "It's a great honour, it takes a lot of work to keep that up and kudos to our staff and the public that help with keeping it clean. Everybody works together."

Grand Bend Marina is one of 10 across Canada to also fly a blue flag this summer.

The Blue Flag recognizes beaches that have achieved international standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education and safety and services.
