Sarnia solicitor, general manager of corporate services stepping down

Sarnia's city solicitor and general manager of corporate services is stepping down from her role next month, to return to the justice system as an assistant Crown attorney.

Michelle Alton joined the senior management team in April.

Before coming to Sarnia, she had worked for many years as the general counsel of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.

Her last day with the city is September 16.

David Stockdale will serve as acting general manager of corporate services and Olivia Nisbet will be appointed the acting city solicitor as Alton transitions out of the position.

Alton replaced David Logan, who left the city in December 2021.

He was hired for the newly created position, which oversees information technology, customer service, human resources, communications, public relations and emergency management, in February 2020.

A reason for Logan’s departure was never given.
