Tickets selling quickly as deadline nears for BWHF Dream Home Lottery

There's just under a month remaining to buy tickets for the Bluewater Health Foundation's (BWHF) Dream Home Lottery.

This year’s home, located at 1955 Orchard Avenue in Bright’s Grove, is valued at $1,159,043.

Since going on sale in early September, well over 70 thousand of the 200 thousand tickets have been sold.

Executive Director Kathy Alexander said those interested have until February 1 to purchase a ticket. She said all of the money raised is reinvested to meet Bluewater Health's priority needs in both Sarnia and Petrolia.

"We share this revenue with our sister foundation in Petrolia, the CEE Hospital Foundation," said Alexander. "So, it is a shared lottery that supports both locations of Bluewater Health. It really is reinvested in the purchase of capital development and equipment purchases. In the past, we've been able to utilize funds from the dream home lottery to help us purchase an MRI, CT scanner and the helipad project."

Alexander said there are 2,800 prizes available during this year's draw.

"We allocate all of that money to the highest priority needs," she said. "I think that is important for people to know. We hear it from people all of the time, that it's a win-win situation. It's a win, definitely, for the person who is the lucky winner but it's also a win for local health care. Time and time again, we can demonstrate what kind of an impact the lottery has on the services that we offer at Bluewater Health."

Alexander said the deadline for another early bird draw for a chance to win a BMW is coming up on January 11.

The pot for the 50/50 draw is already at over $228 thousand.

Meanwhile, David Mair of Camlachie won October's early bird draw for a seven night all-inclusive luxury vacation for two at the Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas, valued at $13,936.

The 2021 campaign sold around 92,000 tickets and raised about $400,000.

Over the past 28 years, the lottery has raised more than $8.5 million for the purchase of innovative medical equipment for patients and families in Lambton County and beyond.

Tickets can be purchased at www.bwhfdreamhome.com, by calling 1-844-667-3251, or by visiting the dream home on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The grand prize draw will take place on February 16, 2023.
