Sarnia man returns home, charged with drug trafficking

A Sarnia man was arrested and charged with drug trafficking after returning home in the middle of a police search of his property.

The Sarnia Police Vice Unit, with help from the Emergency Response Team, seized more than $11,000 worth of drugs and cash from a Vidal Street South home, near Talfourd Street, at around 4 p.m. on Monday, January 30.

Officers located more than 68 grams of methamphetamine, 1.65 grams of fentanyl and nearly $7,700 in Canadian currency during the search.

The suspect, 45-year-old Ernest Edmond, was taken into custody without incident.

Edmond is charged with two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking. He has a court appearance set for next month.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
