Sting smoke Greyhounds for sixth consecutive win

The Sarnia Sting extended their winning streak to six games Friday night after beating the Soo Greyhounds 12-1.

Ty Voit and Luca Del Bel Belluz each got a hat trick and one assist, moving the Sting one point ahead of the Owen Sound Attack for third place in the OHL's Western Conference.

"I think everybody came in ready to play," said Goaltender Ben Gaudreau.

Gaudreau made 28 saves for his fifth consecutive win this season.

Marko Sikic scored twice and Sasha Pastujov also added a goal and four assists.

“We were trying to get Sikky that one there at the end,” Voit said. “That would have been great. It was definitely a good showing from some of the guys.”

The Greyhounds scored their only goal early in the second period, cutting the Sting's lead to 3-1 until Sikic scored 24 seconds later for his second goal of the game.

The Sting scored five more goals in the period, including two in the final minute, for a 9-1 lead.

The Sting sits at 25-14-4-2 on the season.

Sarnia will go for their seventh straight win against the visiting Ottawa 67s  Sunday — coverage on CHOK (1070 A.M./103.9 F.M.) begins at 12:30 p.m. Puck drop is at 1 p.m.
