Sarnia astronaut meets with King of England

Retired astronaut Chris Hadfield met with the King of England at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

Hadfield, a well-known Canadian astronaut and Sarnia native, spoke with King Charles III about efforts to encourage sustainability in space.

Following the meeting, Hadfield said it was a pleasure and a privilege to be asked to advise and assist the King and to make him laugh.

Hadfield was the first Canadian to walk in space and became the first Canadian to command the International Space Station in 2012.

The 63-year-old, who attended King George VI public school in Sarnia, was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2018.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
