Minor injuries after vehicle hits teen

A 25-year-old Sarnia woman has been charged after a teenage cyclist was struck by a vehicle while using the crosswalk.

Sarnia police officers were called to the intersection of Murphy Road and Wellington Street on Monday at 3:24 p.m.

Police said a 14-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle that was making a right turn.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers cleared the scene less than an hour later. Police said the driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe turn.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
