Brush fire sparks along Howard Watson Nature Trail

Sarnia Fire and Rescue and city police responded to a brush fire along the Howard Watson nature trail, behind the Goodwill on Michigan Avenue, just before 2 p.m. Friday.

Police were telling residents in the Sandpiper Drive area to remain indoors, close their windows and shut off their ventilation systems.

In an update just before 3 p.m., police said the only things on fire were natural materials.

Crews from four stations responded.

Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis told Sarnia News Today just before 5 p.m. the fire had been extinguished.

The cause is still under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
