Sarnia Sting shutout Saginaw Spirit 3-0

The Sarnia Sting shutout the Saginaw Spirit in a 3-0 win Friday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Easton Wainwright scored the first goal late in the first period to put the Sting ahead for good.

"I thought we played a full game, both ends of the ice," said Sting Goalie Ben Gaudreau. "I'm sure there's a couple of saves I had to make but again that's part of the game and you have to be ready to make those saves."

Zach Filak added another early in the third before Sasha Pastujov scored an empty-netter.

"I think we matched up really well against Saginaw here," said Gaudreau.

Gaudreau made 26 saves in his shutout effort on Friday night.

The Sting will try to grab a 2-0 series lead when the teams face off again at 2:05 p.m. Sunday in Sarnia.
