Bluewater Anglers host annual spring club derby

The Bluewater Anglers are holding their annual spring club fishing derby this weekend.

Fishing enthusiasts can cast their reels from either a boat or from the shoreline, as of 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning.

The boundaries are the same as those for the Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby.

You can fish in the St. Clair River south to the south end of Fawn Island, and in Lake Huron from the water treatment plant at Grand Bend west to north of Lexington, Michigan.

Eligible species include walleye, rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout, and chinook, Atlantic and Coho salmon.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the three heaviest eligible fish entered in each category.

The weigh-in will take place at the Bluewater Anglers Hatchery under the Blue Water Bridge between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The fish limit is one per category per person.

The event is free for members.

Non-members can purchase entry tickets for $10 at The Outdoorsman and Buck’s Baits until 5:30pm on Friday April 21, 2023.

More details are posted to the Bluewater Anglers' website.
