UPDATE: Sarnians roll up sleeves for Earth Day

Community members are being encouraged to clean up their neighbourhoods this Saturday in celebration of Earth Day.

The City of Sarnia is hosting its annual Community Clean Up Day from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Registered participants will be tasked with picking up litter around the city.

Clean up kits, including garbage bags and gloves, were donated by NOVA Chemicals.

Meanwhile, members of Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton will be at Wiltshire Park to clean up the greenspace from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Participants are asked to wear proper footwear and outdoor clothing.

Registered participants will meet at Germain Park after the clean up for a barbeque, hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours.

Meanwhile, the Town of Petrolia marked Earth Day ahead of Saturday by planting two new Celebration Maple Trees at Bridgeview Park, on either side of the playground equipment.
