Sarnia angler leading at annual salmon derby

Sarnia's Dana Lawrence is holding on to the lead with the largest salmon at the Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby.

Lawrence entered a 17.58 pound salmon April 30.

Petrolia's Mark Valiqueitte reeled in a 16.66 pound lake trout for the lead in that category.

In the trout-boat category, Scott Dezort of Sarnia is leading with a catch weighing 9.65 pounds.

William Guy from Bright's Grove caught a 7.91 pound walleye for the lead in that category.

To date, 681 fish have been entered in the derby which wraps up on Sunday, May 7.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
