UPDATE: Police drone helps nab suspect with hatchet

A man was arrested early Sunday morning following a foot pursuit with police.

Sarnia officers were called to a building in the area of Wellington Street and Brock Street at approximately 7 a.m. It's alleged a man was on the rooftop with a hatchet.

Police said he fled the scene and after a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended with the assistance of the Sarnia Police drone. Officers who were tasked with clearing the rooftop also received assistance from Sarnia Fire's ladder truck.

A 59-year-old Sarnia man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
