UPDATE: Sarnia elementary school targeted by vandals

There was no impact on student learning Monday morning after a break and enter at a Sarnia school over the weekend.

The Lambton Kent District School Board said someone gained access to London Road Public School through a locked door sometime Saturday evening.

In an email to Sarnia News Today, Executive Assistant to the Director of Education Jaime Shannon said the initial investigation shows no items were taken from the property.

"There was vandalism to an isolated section of the school, and staff worked quickly to clean it up," said Shannon. "Sarnia Police Services continues their investigation into the identities of the individual or individuals involved."

Director of Education John Howitt said a mess was left behind in a common area of the school that was dedicated to staff. Thankfully, there was no damage done to the school's physical structure.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 extension 0.
